Theatre Arts Crescendo Award 2022

What This Grant Funds: In order to provide a voice to underrepresented groups in Kansas City the Theatre Community Fund of Kansas City has designated funds to distribute grants of up to $2,500 to BiPOC theatre creators in Kansas City. Grants will be announced in October 2022. Funded projects will be given a performance space free of charge with one of TCF's Community Partners. TCF will also assist with marketing costs associated with the funded projects. Please be advised that a full budget breakdown is required.
Three Kinds Of Works Will Be Accepted For Grant Panel Reviews:
Original Script: Applicant has a finished draft of a script of an original play that has never been performed.
Adapted Public Works: Applicant has a thorough concept with script notes of a reconceptualization of a public work, including but not limited to Greek plays and Shakespeare.
Devised Piece: Applicant has detailed plans and notes for a piece that requires improvisation and collaboration in the rehearsal room. Frequently called collective creation, devised theatre is a method of theatre making in which the script or performance score originates from collaborative and improvisational work by the performing ensemble.
Eligibility: Applicants must reside in the Greater Kansas City area. This grant is specifically for creators of color. TCF strongly encourages people of color in the LGBTQIA community to apply. TCF is an inclusive non-profit and hope to exceed guidelines set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act, recognizing and accommodating seen and unseen disabilities into our work. If you are awarded this grant you are not eligible to apply again for two calendar years.

TCF commits to providing an ASL interpreter for at least once performance of all selected material.
